Semisi Siu

Semisi is passionate about fitness and nutrition, and feels that they should be implemented as a lifestyle as opposed to it being a chore. He has been involved in athletics and fitness since he was a pre-teen, growing up in Aotearoa (New Zealand), participating in sports like Rugby, Aussie Rules, Cricket, Grass Hockey and Track & Field.

Semisi is native to the South Pacific Islands of Tonga, but grew up in Auckland, New Zealand and moved to California in 1995. In 2001 Semisi earned NASM, ACE & Apex nutrition certifications and worked as a Trainer Fit Pro for 24 hour Fitness in Scottsdale & Phoenix, Arizona. He returned to Menlo Park in 2008, and joined Menlo Swim and Sport as a Menlo Swim School Instructor, Camp Menlo Lead Counselor and Fitness Coach for Menlo Fit Boot Camp, which he truly enjoys – from helping, teaching, and coaching community members, to practicing what he preaches by taking the Wednesday morning 6am “Tabata” class. Semisi is also very proud of his Sunday Trail Runners group and welcomes any running levels – “the most challenging part is showing up!”

Semisi’s personality, passion, focus, professionalism and high octane energy will get you motivated, inspired, dancing, laughing, sweating & hungry for another tough, but fun filled class.

Specialties include: Performance Enhancement Specialist, Strength & Conditioning, Stretch & Flexibility Coach, TRX-Suspension trainer & DVRT Sandbag training.

Kevin DeFro

Kevin is a California native with an immense passion for holistic health, fitness, and nutrition. He began weight training at the age of 15 and was introduced to the world of organic food and nutrition in his college years. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley, Kevin integrates his interest in helping people into all of his pursuits.

With a background in corrective exercise, Kevin has recently expanded his
skill set by integrating the use of Russian kettlebells, sandbags, joint mobility exercises, TRX Suspension Training, TRX RIP Training, and bodyweight training into his program design resulting in workouts that leave one feeling stronger, more flexible and altogether more energized and balanced.

Kevin is currently teaching fitness bootcamps and small group classes as far south as Menlo Park and as far north as San Francisco. He is also a fitness educator and teaches the TRX-STC Suspension Training Course to other fitness professionals looking to add another credential to their name and skill set.

Narmina Sharifova

Narmina has been a competitive runner for over 10 years and a running coach for children at a local school. Seven years ago she started including indoor cycling in her training routine and now she brings the benefit of this workout as a certified Schwinn instructor to professional cyclists and novices alike. Her classes are full of high energy, crazy beat, passion and humor.

Martin Wegenstein

Martin, a native Swiss, spent his professional career as an executive in the high-tech industry. Throughout his life however, he has had a passion for sports and fitness and has been an avid skier, runner and cyclist among other sports. While still consulting in high-tech, he is now focusing his energies on his lifelong passion for sports and fitness.

Martin is a ride leader for Thomson Bike Tours, the premier bicycle tour operator in Europe for challenging high performance bike tours targeted at strong and experienced cyclists. At TBT he helped design the arguably most challenging tour, the Trans Swiss Challenge and has been a ride leader of this “challenge” since its inaugural tour in 2010.

Martin is a certified Spin instructor and his classes focus on improving cardiovascular training, and building strength and endurance in a safe indoor environment. The leadership skills from his High Tech career transition very well into leading individuals of different abilities and skill levels to achieving and exceeding his or her workout targets.

Bill Kirsch

Bill has been a road cyclist for over 30 years and enjoys bringing his deep experience to the spin class setting.  He focuses on improving form and fitness for all levels of spin participants through a wide variety of structured workouts and upbeat music playlists.

Bill has also been swimming with Menlo Masters since 1994 and was an active triathlete road runner during the 80′s. In his spare time, Bill is a partner in a venture capital firm.  With his children off to college, Bill is finding more time to play guitar and root around in his vegetable garden.
